Tradition of Dumpling Making

Making Dumplings is one of the most cherished Chinese traditions whenever family and friends get together. Bao Gao Club wants to share this experience with you so that you can learn this craft and enjoy cooking dumplings with your loved ones

The teacher of the dumpling course presents and explains the individual ingredients that are used for the dumplings. There are meat ingredients as well as plant-based, vegan ingredients for the dumpling filling

Meet our Teacher

Xiaowu's roots trace back to South China, where different Chinese cuisine styles converge. Here, she grew up in the flavorful environment of her family's restaurant and soaked up all the culinary know-how. In her 20s, she jetted off to Beijing, spending seven years mastering the art of Taichi and teaching martial arts and Chinese.

But when she moved with her family to Berlin in 2015, something was missing—those mouthwatering tastes of home.

To fill the void, Xiaowu and her husband dove headfirst into the food scene, starting with pop-up gigs. Soon, they were dishing out authentic Sichuan burnin’ noodles at their very own spot in Neukölln. Not content with just serving up goodness, Xiaowu also started teaching dumpling classes in Berlin, sharing her love for Chinese cuisine with fellow food enthusiasts.

How does it work?

Our classes are dedicated to a specific kind of dumpling that you will learn to make from scratch. We normally teach a meat and a vegan/vegetarian filling.

You will learn the entire process from making dough and filling, wrapping and cooking the dumplings. Thereby, we make sure to teach the fundamental principles of how the recipes work so you will be well equipped to make your own variation.

We will also explain how to pair and mix your sauce so you can create your personal favorite dipping sauce.

At the end we gather to a dumpling feast to taste your own creations.

Book a Private Dumpling Class — For Teams, Birthdays & Celebrations

Want a hands-on experience that brings people together over food? Our private dumpling classes are perfect for company team events, birthday parties, and group celebrations. You'll make dumplings completely from scratch — kneading dough, rolling wrappers, mixing fillings, and wrapping together — before sitting down to enjoy everything you made. Classes are available in English and German and run for 2.5–3 hours. Groups of 8 to 25 people welcome.

  • Company & team events

Looking for a team event in Berlin that's actually fun? A private dumpling class is a creative, hands-on alternative to the usual dinner or escape room. Working together to make dumplings from scratch is a natural icebreaker — and the reward at the end is a proper meal everyone made themselves. We can accommodate groups up to 25 people and adapt the session to your schedule.

  • Group celebrations

Whether it's a hen party, a family reunion, or just an excuse to do something different — some of the best memories are made with your hands in the dough, laughing over a badly folded dumpling. The making is half the magic: the focus, the friendly competition, the little victories when the pleats finally come together. And then you sit down and eat what you created — a meal that tastes better because you made it together.

  • Birthday parties

Celebrate your birthday with something you'll actually remember. Gather your closest friends, get your hands in the dough, and wrap a feast together. We can add a signature black sesame cheesecake or welcome cocktails to make it extra special — or you're welcome to bring your own cake. The perfect birthday for anyone who loves food.
